Waking Watch Service

Fire Services Group Ltd is a specialist provider of professional Fire Cover services to local authorities, public sector bodies, commercial organisations, and event venues across the UK. Our services are delivered exclusively by fully trained and experienced firefighters, ensuring the highest standards of life safety, regulatory compliance, and operational professionalism.

Our Waking Watch service provides continuous, proactive fire safety presence in buildings or venues where there is an elevated fire risk. This includes situations where fire detection or alarm systems are impaired, during refurbishment or construction works, or where enhanced mitigation measures are required following a fire risk assessment.

Scope of Services

24/7 or scheduled fire patrols of internal and external areas

Early detection of fire, smoke, or other fire-related hazards

Immediate initiation and management of evacuation procedures

Assistance to vulnerable occupants in line with Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans (PEEPs)

Lift rescues carried out safely and in accordance with recognised firefighter procedures

Initial firefighting of small, early-stage fire incidents using appropriate equipment

Prompt liaison with Fire & Rescue Services and other emergency responders

Comprehensive incident reporting, patrol logs, and management information

Building relationship with the tenants as well as other on-site agencies

Provision of evacuation chairs

Provision of all-in-one fire extinguishers

Competence of Personnel

Waking Watch personnel supplied by Fire Service Group are fully qualified firefighters. They are competent in fire prevention, dynamic risk assessment, evacuation management, first response firefighting, and emergency communications. Ongoing training and refresher programmes ensure continued professional competence.

We support the Responsible Person in meeting their statutory duties under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, including the implementation of appropriate fire risk mitigation measures and the protection of relevant persons.

Fire Services Group maintains robust governance and quality assurance processes. Detailed patrol records, incident reports, and escalation logs are maintained and made available to the Client. These records support audit, inspection, and regulatory review processes.
